"It doesn't matter if a cave has been in darkness for 10,000 years or half an hour, once you light a match it is illuminated."

-Paramahansa Yogananda

Caves are cool, we all know this.

However, spontaneous cave exploring on a cool October night?

Hell yes, sign me up!

I thought that I was going to a bonfire at a friend's house, which is still a little true. However, they were intent on scooping me up to go cave exploring immediately after I had arrived. They packed up the beer, loaded up the bikes, and we were off. Several cars tailing each other across the river, jamming anything from Taylor Swift to Dance Gavin Dance, and occasionally hanging out of the sun roof.

All to stumble into a parking lot that had a gorgeous, illuminated bluff that housed some equally as notoriously restricted cave. They surprised me when they headed down a small, hidden trail in the righthand corner of the parking lot, on the opposite side of the off-limits cave entrances. We took our beer, giggles, and phone flashlights with us a short way down a trail into the forest.

A short way (and about half a beer) later, we got to the hidden back entrance of some caverns. We were greeted with a beautiful stalagmite with a consistent streamline at the top. It was very reminiscent of a shower and was very refreshing on our way out of the caves.

I went back during the daytime and snagged a video :)

In summary, it was a really cool night. We had the caves to ourselves that night but saw many a firepit from local parties. We found a cool spot next to the base of the underground spring to set up camp and hung out for the night.

10/10, would do again :)
