Sweet girl, you were taken from this world far too soon.
It's no secret that your case has become quite the sensation, garnering the attention of big-name investigators around the world. Attention acutely honed in on the life you left behind, the fallacies of law enforcement that let us to lose you, and the manhunt for your abuser.
Independent of all of this, I feel like I know you. I feel like I've been you.
Only, for some reason, I survived and you did not. They say such entropy is what rules the universe, but I say that this is an inexcusable tragedy.
I, too, know what it is to be trapped with someone that you can't figure out if you love, hate, or fear. Someone that makes you second-guess reality. Someone that preys on your insecurities and controls all that you are.
And, unfortunately, I know what it is to be hurt by such a person.
Again, I found more in common with you through that. In that awful bodycam footage, I saw my abuser. I saw him in the way that he fidgeted nervously and talked with his hands. I heard him in the way that he attempted to charm police, laying it on extra thick soas not to get found out. A villain masquerading as a partner.
You were so loved, regardless of however he treated you. Regardless of what he ever said to you, you were always so much more. So much more than him, and I think he was counting down the days until the jig was up and you would be free to realize that.
We were in Colorado Springs just a week apart. I wish I could've helped you then. I wish that the universe, in all of her entropy, had led me to you during that time.
I think, if we ever got the chance to meet, we would've been good friends. You seemed so kind; and a true free spirit. Like someone I would totally not mind adding to my tribe, ya know? I saw that you were working on a blog, and may
be it would've looked a lot like this one. I had been thinking of making a blog too, but hadn't gotten around to it.
