"The past isn't dead and buried, it isn't even past" - William Faulknew

When in such a touristy city such as New Orleans, people often ask where you're from. When I told them St. Louis, they always beamed and exclaimed "our sister city!" and made me feel all the more welcome.

The St. Louis Cathedral! New Orleans is a dream come true. I fell in love with the iron terraces, courtyard gardens, and tributes to the dead around every other corner. New Orleans is magic.

The oldest cathedral in North America proudly overlooks Jackson Square; which is a popular tourist destination. Local artists, performers, and musicians showcase their work here. One of the artistic melting pot areas of the city.

This Cathedral shares a name with a few gravesites in the area, most famously St. Louis Cemetery No. 1. This cemetery has been nicknamed "City of the Dead" and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. Voodoo Queen Marie Lavou is also buried there.

Pretty cool, huh? Needless to say, there was a lot of shameless jammin' of the entire Princess and the Frog soundtrack on the way home :)
