A Court of Thorns and Roses

"When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a terrifying creature arrives to demand retribution. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she knows about only from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not truly a beast, but one of the most lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled her world. At least, he’s not a beast all the time. As she adapts to her new home, her feelings for the faerie, Tamlin, transform from icy hostility into fiery passion that burns through every lie she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But something is not right in the faerie lands. An ancient, wicked shadow is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it or doom Tamlin-and his world-forever."

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah Maas is the first in the sensational series known by most avid readers everywhere. Yes, I have finally started the ACOTAR series at the encouragement of the new book club I belong to. I loved this book and cannot wait to read more of this addicting series. It is known for being very sexual at times, but I didn’t find it overwhelming (or even a main attention factor) in this book at all. The beginning is a bit slow as it takes you, ever so slowly, to the precipice of all the buildup and confusion. There is an epic turning point, and an epic love story, that takes the reader all the way to the end. I could not put it down from that point on. The writing style is beautifully delivered, the world meticulously crafted, and the love triangles already brewing. This one is very gory at times, yet one of the main plot twists was just a little bit corny for my taste, involving an immortal cursed (literally, cursed) to love a mortal. Other than that, no complaints from me. I am told the plot really takes off in the second installment, which just so happens to be the next target for the book club. I am excited to read more os Maas’ work!
