A Court of Wings and Ruin

“Feyre has returned to the Spring Court, determined to gather information on Tamlin’s actions and learn what she can do about the invading king threatening to bring her land to its knees. But to do so she must play a deadly game of deceit. One slip could bring doom not only to Feyre but for everything-and everyone-she holds dear. As war bears down upon them all Feyre endeavors to take her place as one of the High Fae of the land, balancing her struggle to master her powers-both magical and political-and her love for her court and family. Amidst these struggles, Feyre and Rhysand must decide whom to trust among the cunning and lethal High Lords, and hunt for allies in unexpected places.”

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas focused more on the world building, warfare, and bloodshed of this Fae world. It was a lot less doting on Feyre and Rhysand and more coming together towards a common enemy. It was so nice to see glimpses of the other courts and their relationships/nuances that make them so very tick. I am enjoying the focus being sent towards Nesta in particular and am so excited to see more from her. I desperately want to know more about her power and her relationship with Cassian. She is the one character that I (and I would imagine this to be intentional) cannot get a read on. I would say that this is the least enjoyable book, by a small fraction of course, in the series so far. That may just be because so much of it was romance-focused that this one just feels to be falling a little short. However, it is safe to say that I have been fully converted into a fantasy reader and am already doing my research on the rest of Maas’ books.
