Heir of Fire
“Celaena Sardothien has survived deadly contests and shattering heartbreak, but now she must travel to a new land to confront her darkest truth. That truth could change her life-and her future-forever. Meanwhile, monstrous forces are gathering on the horizon, intent on enslaving her world. To defeat them, Celaena will need the strength not only to fight the evil that is about to be unleashed but also to harness her inner demons. If she is to win this battle, she must find the courage to face her destiny-and burn brighter than ever before."
Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas left me speechless and stunned by the end. I have been devouring her work. As soon as I finished this novel in my town’s local coffee shop, I immediately plunged into the next (which I finished in 5 days). I have been slacking when it comes to these reviews because I find myself unable to keep myself from the next ones in the series! Her work is addicting and deliciously enticing. I thought that the transition from Celaena to Aelin would feel forced or inauthentic, but it didn’t. She grappled with it in real time, the reader right beside her, as she slowly became the queen she was always destined to be. Also, I hated Rowan when they first brought him up. I now realize that he and Aelin are one in the same. Their hearts have been broken in the same way and their struggles are not strange to one another. They deserve to feel the loyalty of belonging to one another, and that slow-burn realization was beautiful. Needless to say, I am at Maas’ mercy. I am quickly devouring all of her works and humbly thank her for a gorgeous introduction to fantasy literature.
