Verity (Bonus Chapter)

The thrilling last chapter of one of Hoover's most sensational pieces

Verity by Colleen Hoover has already been reviewed on this blog before, and I personally am very fortunate to have read this sensational piece just a month or so before the last chapter came out. There's also the added bonus of it being two days after my twenty-fourth birthday; the timing just seemed to have worked out for me.

It isn't often that I describe or admire the cover of a book, but this one is expertly marketed. This version of the book comes in hardback (for now, at least) only and has inverted colors to juxtapose the original work. It reminds me of when bands occasionally do this when releasing standalone singles after the original album's release (Blink 182 is known for doing this, especially). The book is beautiful, and I am hesitant to lend it out to any of my friends who are dying to read the last chapter. It is intended to be kept pristine.

The last chapter does not disappoint. We still don't know the actual truth of Verity's intentions, but we do get some insight into the lives she still appears to haunt. The chapter takes place six months after the original book's ending, and Lowen has given birth to Nova; a baby that she and Jeremy share. Verity is still very much haunting Lowen, to the point of obsession. That is all I will say about their situation, but it is definitely worth the read. What's one more sinister twist in the already ominous lives of this family of Chronics?
